Who we are:

Just who is behind Winterland?

Here's a little bit about us.........

I am Giovanna Cruz, creator of this website and main caretaker of our Winterland mals.  I have five patient and loving children; Donovan my eldest who is 12, Raven who is 10, Kairi who is 9, Tristan who is 8, and Gianni who is 6. My kiddos help me to give each and every malamute family member in our home love and attention as each dog deserves it. My husband Ronnie is the absolute best! He supports my passion for dogs and helps out in every way possible or needed. He holds a passion for dogs himself; but is limited to what he could do because he does work. Our puppies are NOT our only method of bringing finances into our home! I am a stay at home mom and this is my dream and passion; I do this strictly for the love of dogs. All finances that are earned by my mals go directly back to my mals; either if it's for food, supplements, vet care, or for thier lifestyle...it is always in their best interest! Winterland is currently working hard to find the perfect malamute farm for our mals! :)  We do not sell or work with any pet stores, puppy mills, etc.....I place all of our pups in an individual home where they will be loved.

Ronnie and I are high school sweethearts, and celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary in January 2014. When he and I got married and moved in together; naturally he brought along his American Pit Bull Terrier; Champ, that he had owned for years. I studied a whole lot about the APBT breed (since I was afraid of them) and ended up loving and being a true activist for the breed. We had our first unplanned litter of APBTs in 2010 and I did everything possible to not fall into the "back yard breeder" category; with research, a great vet, and more research I focused so hard to do everything correctly for those pups. I then became hooked with the fulfillment and joy that my pups brought to their new families and then I decided that I wanted to be a legitimist breeder. Champ was a noble and great dog; and passed naturally at 12 years old. We retired breeding APBTs only because I wanted to have a nice small quantity of dogs, but want to ultimately live in harmony as a united pack...this is hard with any breed....even harder with pits. So I began to search high and low for the best breed for my lifestyle and for my family. I have grown up with Huskies and German Shepherds my entire life and I have naturally been attracted to the Arctic and working breeds. With more research, visiting friends with mals, and really putting myself out there to make the perfect choice, my heart knew that the Alaskan Malamute was my choice of breed! I am so very happy to say that I was oh so very right, Alaskan Malamutes are the best! Siren was our first mal and is truly all that I wanted in a pet...loyal, loving, obedient, playful, therapeutic, and so much more! These are the qualities that everyone's pet should have, and that is what I am striving to produce!

Why you should choose a Winterland pup:

Here at Winterland we breed for health, love, form, and a merry disposition! I will not claim to produce the biggest in the world, nor will I give any false information including weight and size, but I will guarantee you a healthy puppy that will smother you with love! We are here to bring you a healthy and loving new member to your family that will offer you a lifetime of unconditional love!

All of our Alaskan Malamutes are a part of our family including all of the puppies born here; and are treated as such! They have been born and raised IN my home with my 5 young children. They are handled and played with on a daily basis and given many kisses and hugs throughout the day. We do not keep our dogs kenneled they are free to roam in our home, or in our yard, even in our garage, or to take a swim every now and then! Our Malamutes don't live with us we live with them! With 5 young kiddos and all these mals we are always active at the parks or other dog friendly areas so we rotate trips with our dogs to keep them active and social with the outside world. They are crate trained and used to sleeping in their very own crate that is located in our family room! Which means that your puppy will come to you trained to be in a crate and we will begin the potty process here at our home. We are all one pack....humans and Malamutes alike!

We are a family who absolutely LOVES our Alaskan Malamutes and want to help improve our breed. We do not work with nor sell any of our puppies to puppy mills, pet stores, etc. We screen the families that inquire about our puppies to ensure that they will be placed with a safe and loving family of their own. We will not sell a puppy just to make money; my ultimate goal and joy is to place my puppies in a loving home and to bring joy to both the puppy and its new family!

We feed all of our mals and puppies only a high quality grain less diet which is high in protein, as well as vitamins to help them stay healthy! At 2 weeks of age I start all puppies on organic supplements to help maintain strong immune systems and to help ensure that they are healthy when ready to go to their new families! All puppies are given their first round of shots and are dewormed to prevent infestation of hookworms and roundworms. All puppies are also micro chipped before going to their new homes, we care about all of our pups and want to help keep them safe for their entire lives. It is your responsibly to activate your puppy's microchip and to finish their shots in order to keep your puppy healthy, happy, and safe!

Finally we offer you a lifetime of dedication and friendship. In my eyes...you joined my family and you and your pup will ALWAYS be treated as such. I am here to help you in every possible way and to answer any and all questions or concerns that you may have. My loyalty to you and your malamute are that of a lifetime!

Responsibility begins with a responsible breeder!!!References are available upon request.
